REUNION - PARIS - MAURICE
Restricted by its small space, the challenge was to make this office building, with a footprint of 200 m2, a strong signal and a premise for the huge neighboring Espace Océan development. Located at crossroads of the major urban axis of the Maréchal Leclerc and Félix Guyon streets in Saint-Denis in Reunion Island, this plot indeed holds some urban issues that go well beyond the simple task of creating an office building. The task was to create the initiation for an urban redefinition planned through the future Espace Océan development. The particularities of the project are dictated by the narrowness and the triangular form of the plot. With the plot that had already been built on 2 of its side limits, the challenge was concentrated to the only façade that faces the major urban axis acting as entrance point to the city. All of the sanitary units and circulation knots were placed in a closed volume that creates the barrier against the wind. All of the office levels open towards the city and the mountains. The double skin of the aluminum meshwork with geometrical patterns makes the façade vibrate visually, without obstructing the view. The curtain walls are of a high technical elaboration, integrating the solar protection and ventilation, were chosen. The supporting structure is hidden to provide a smooth, sober and elegant skin, projecting this image to the city.
