Jardin de l'État
The garden of the State, a display of tropical essences and centennial trees surrounding the Museum of natural history, is the green lung in the historical heart of Saint-Denis. The task here was to restore the green axis which lies in front of the museum by the addition of a restaurant. The restaurant of this park follows the historical footprint of the previous one. The two reception blocks are being redesigned, while a contemporary building, a restaurant, is being added to the frame of the park. An abstinent motion that presents itself as a vast roof, similar to a large umbrella, elevated from the ground. The restaurant has been conceived as a shelter slipped under the trees. A small gesture that consists of a thin structure and copper skin, behind which the different sections can be found – sanitary spaces, service area and covered terrace.
