REUNION - PARIS - MAURICE
“Les Jasmins” integrates the new development zone Cœur de Ville in La Possession, in the west of the island. This project of 38 social housing units is, first and foremost, in the search of porosity and natural ventilation. As such, the ‘U’ shaped topology of the building, open towards the northwest, fosters the circulation of dominant winds. The apartments have been built on a plinth rising from the natural ground, thereby providing for 80% of parking spaces under the building, protected from the sun and the bad weather. The architecture extends the overhang surface, creating exterior surfaces which are complementary to the apartments. These are accessed by a network of outdoor corridors. On the upper floors, for the more playful perception, the architecture is organized in parcels and volumes highlighted by the use of cladding materials borrowed from the vocabulary of creole architecture.
