hotel and tourism
Palm trees and a lagoon… what better setting for a tourist resort? This plot of land of 5,000 m2, at the edge of the lagoon of La Saline-Les-Bains in Reunion Island, can accommodate a tourist residence of 84 apartments. The architecture of the project is built around a site of magnificent palm trees. In order to preserve them as well as capitalize on them, a building modelled in a ‘U’ shape is preferred. The layout of the buildings situated around a large inner garden made of palm trees and water surfaces constitutes the key refreshment area of the project. To minimize the visual impact of the building (4 layers), the attic uses the architectural concept of ‘houses on the roof’, which allows for division of the buildings and promotion of the ventilation system. Sliding panels with aluminum louvers enlightens the facades of the interior garden, thereby preserving the intimacy of the verandas whilst promoting natural ventilation of each apartment. To pronounce intimacy while protecting from the sun, the residence is equipped with a blend of colored fabrics that vibrate in the sun and flutter in the wind.
